Resources for further Inquiry: On-line Commentary

B’Tselem is the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. Its goal is to document and educate the Israeli public and policymakers about human rights violations in the Occupied Territories, combat the phenomenon of denial prevalent among the Israeli public, and help create a human rights culture in Israel. Because B'Tselem is independent and is funded by contributions from foundations in Europe and North America that support human rights activity worldwide, we can be confident it is an unbiased site from which to gain more knowledge on our topic. It will be useful for our readers because it provides reports of human rights violations that have occurred in the Occupied Territories such as torture, fatal shootings by security forces, restriction on movement, expropriation of land and discrimination in planning and building in East Jerusalem, administrative detention, and settler violence. Its website has statistics that our readers would also find helpful and interesting. It will give the reader a better understanding of how significant the conflict in Israel is currently. It also provides personal testimonies from individuals of all ages both men and women from 2001 to 2010. These are more ways for the reader to become more involved in the struggle and learn how different people view the religious differences. Also on the website are links to Israeli, Palestinian, and international human rights sites. Under each link is a short description so if readers find any interesting they can investigate further on their own. They also provide information on and links to press releases on the Israel-Palestine issue since 1998. Lastly, there is a publication section that provides information on publications from 1989 onward that deal with the conflict. There are PDF links for each publication should the reader want to skim the articles.

Ta’ayush is a grassroots movement of Arabs and Jews working to break down the walls of racism and segregation by constructing a true Arab-Jewish partnership. They are working towards a future of equality, justice and peace through concrete, daily, non-violent actions of solidarity to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and to achieve full civil equality for all. The website provides documentation in the form of writing, photos, and videos of the activities and activists of Ta’ayush. The activities section of the website highlights the most recent activities while a helpful archive can narrow your search by year, activity type, or place. Under the issues and facts section there are activists’ blogs, articles, background information, a pressing issues archive, and a video archive. These sections help divide the facts so that the reader can pursue information as they need. This website will be helpful to our readers because it is a very organized look at this particular peace activist group concerned with our topic. They provide personal and non-personal information about the conflict between Arabs and Jews involved in the Israel-Palestine conflict. The website also give the readers, under the support us tab, a chance to support their cause by donating, spread the word to promote the group, or join their cause. We think this is a very useful site for readers to gain a new perspective on the Israel-Palestine issue and will give the reader a chance to get involved if they choose to.
